Addis Ababa-Former Boston Marathon champion Dire Tune of Ethiopia will run in the Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon here on Sunday.
The Frankfurt Marathon is one of the IAAF Gold Label Road Races, and an estimated 13,000 runners are registered for this year’s event.
Dire Tune has achieved some success in the marathon in recent years. In January 2008, she won the 2008 Houston Marathon in a personal best time of 2:24:40, which is a 30 seconds faster than the course record of the Commerzbank Frankfurt Marathon. Addis ababa-Ethiopian government said today that it will invest billions of dollars over the coming five years to enhance the road sector development program of the country.
The Ethiopian Road Authority (ERA) said it will construct 82,500 kilometers of roads across nation with a cost of 122 billion Birr (some 8.9 Billion USD) during the specified period of time.

Eighty nine Ethiopian nationals on Thursday appeared before a Kibera court charged with being in the country illegally.
The aliens who were seized in Nairobi’s Dagoretti estate pleaded guilty to the charges but Kibera senior Principal Magistrate Grace Nzioka set the case for mention on Friday to provide the prosecution with more time to consolidate its facts.
The case for the foreigners, all men was merged as they faced similar charges that on August 18 at Gachungu village in Dagoretti District being citizens of Ethiopia, they were found in Kenya without valid permits. Read More…

Addis Ababa-Ethiopia’s government will sign a peace deal with the United Western Somali Liberation Front, a rebel organization that has been fighting for independence in the ethnic Somali region in the east of the country.
The accord will be signed tomorrow in the capital, Addis Ababa, the Communication Ministry said in an e-mailed statement today.
The UWSLF is a rival of the Ogaden National Liberation Front, which also operates in the Somali region. Both groups are considered to be successors to the Western Somali Liberation Front that fought for independence for the region and assisted the army of neighboring Somalia in its ultimately unsuccessful invasion of the Ogaden in 1977-88.
